SHOULD YOUR BUSINESS BE ACCEPTING MAJOR CREDIT CARDS?Do you accept credit cards?If you're doing business on the internet, you've probably been asked this question more than once. If your answer is yes, you love to hear the question. However, if you're forced to say no, the question will probably induce a frown. It usually means you've lost another sale! So what exactly does it take to be able to answer that question with a yes? In most cases it takes a bundle of money and a few headaches. The fact is, the high cost of becoming a credit card merchant is the biggest factor keeping people from being able to answer that question with ayes, we do accept creditcardsThe fact is, there is simply no reason for the prices being charged for the "privilege" of accepting credit cards! That's why we wrote this bonus report. First, we'd like to explain the importance of accepting credit cards when doing business on the internet. When I wrote in one of my early books that the preferred method of payment when purchasing services or products through the mail was check or money-order, I was wrong. Maybe at the time I wrote it I wasn't, but I certainly am now!DEAD WRONG!! The internet is changing many things in the world of mail-order! With the emergence of e-mail-order as a primary method of purchasing products on the internet, the ability to accept major credit cards has become imperative for online businesses! In speaking with a fellow online marketer earlier this year, the light bulb finally went on in my head. When he asked me if I was accepting credit cards yet, I told him I had been considering the idea. "Considering the idea?" He said, "What are you waiting for? You're missing out on lots of sales!" He continued with a very logical explanation. "What is the one thing everyone on the internet has in common?" "Every single one of them has a credit card! They need one to get connected!" I thought for a second. "True", I said as the light bulb began to flicker. "But aren't people reluctant to send their credit card info via email?" Actually no, we do not accept credit cardshe said. "And the few that are, can send the info by regular mail. It just gives them another option for payment." Becoming convinced, I wanted to take the security aspect a step further. What if someone did somehow get hold of the credit card info? Wouldn't this be a nightmare for the person who was just trying to purchase something? I made calls to some of the companies that I got my credit cards from. I told them I was considering purchasing something over the internet. I asked them exactly how much havoc could someone create with my credit card details. The answer was actually very reassuring. The most I could be held liable for was fifty dollars! Actually, some companies said I would be held liable for zero, as long as I reported the fraud as soon as I recognized it. So now the light bulb was really starting to glow. But, I still had to find a company that would give me credit card merchant status. I had heard it was very hard to obtain, especially for an internet based business like mine.The first thing I did was jump on the World Wide Web. I searched on "credit cards", "Merchant status" and anything else I could think of. Once I had a nice list of potential companies to apply to, I started checking them out. I became frustrated very quickly when I found out I would have to spend about a hundred dollars just to apply. IF I was accepted, I would then have to lease the terminal or software for anywhere from thirty to fifty dollars per month! For 2 -3 Years! (I could buy it instead if I had a thousand bucks to spend.) That's when I decided that things had to change! There is simply no reason for the prices being charged for the "privilege" of accepting credit cards! And now, thanks to a fellow Publishing Company in California, things HAVE finally changed! They showed us first hand how they can cut out all the middle men and slash ALL COSTS! We were up and running in less than ten days! (We were SO impressed, we worked with them and put together a plan that will allow everyone doing business on the net to take advantage of this breakthrough!
