INTRODUCTION

Ask any aspiring webmaster or Internet marketer to identify the biggest challenge facing the online industry today, and you'll likely hear how hard it is to promote a web site. First of all, there are many multi-submission pages that contain links to search engines, advertising sites, and other free resources. Most of these sites offer a free list of links, and they also offer paid submission services. I have found that very few of the paid submission services are worth it. They claim to save you time (which they do) and also claim to be more accurate (which may or may not be true....) Try your hand at listing your site yourself before you pay anyone else to do it!

• A1 Web Page Promotions - http://www.a1co.com/ - You will find a page filled with advertisements for their paid promotion service, but down at the bottom is a graphic that says A1s FREE index of www promotion sites! Click it. Their index is really great! It is divided into different categories of site types. It has a really HUGE list of sites and engines that let you list for free.
• Robo-Submit - http://www.inetwebs.com/ROBO/ - This site uses a CGI robot to submit to many search engines and free link pages simultaneously. You can submit your URL to about 15 sites for free, in a couple of very simple steps. Its totally automated and fast, and it even lets you submit graphic banners! Their paid service is bar far the best deal around, offering unlimited URL submissions per month to 150 engines, guest books, etc. for only $15. per month. (The service is NOT resalable, however!)
• The Webstep top 100 list - http://www.mmgco.com/4-star.html - It has links to over 25 search engines. A nice thing about their page is that they give some information about each search engine to let you pick and choose which ones you submit to. It isnt totally automated, but its got some great advantages.
• The Vault - http://www.the-vault.com/easy-submit/ - The frame based interface makes it a snap to visit about 75 search engines, award sites, and free-for all link lists. You never have to hit the back button, thanks to their clever design. its not automated, but it does list several sites that arent listed elsewhere.
• Cyberpulse - http://www.webcom.com/impulse/resource.html - lists 145 sites for free advertising, PR, and web listing.
• The missing link - http://www.igoldrush.com/missing/ - A great web site for finding reciprocal links. They list web sites in many categories that will trade a link with you. Trading a link with a similar site may be very valuable to you, although sometime time consuming. This site makes it that much easier.
• The window of Opportunity - http://www.uni-sol.com/window - If your site qualifies as a useful resource for web users, the Window and many other e-zines may list you for free! Make sure to visit such sites, then contact the authors and let them know about your resource. Keep in mind that most people will be more interested in actual resources, such as free links, articles, etc. than they will be in your MLM opportunity or product. HINTS FOR SUBMISSION

• Use Your Title Wisely - Many search engines weigh the
• data in your title more heavily than other data in
• your page. Make sure that your title has keywords that
• represent your site effectively.
• Dont Abuse Search Engines and Guest Books - Follow
• the submission rules for each engine, and dont submit
• more often than the engine allows. Dont use keywords
• that have nothing to do with your site!
• Change Your Title - By changing your title
• periodically your page can be resubmitted and
• re-indexed multiple times by the search engines.
• Use Meta-Tags - Use META tags so that robots will get
• a description and list of keywords to index. It is
• also helpful to place descriptive text and keywords at
• the bottom of your page.
