The single seeks single market

The market for dating sites, partner-search online, singles contacts via www in the german speaking European area (where we are) is a million-Euro market (40mill Euro in 2004 to 100mill Euro in 2007). In the USA parnter-search via internet is an already established business, a big business. Increasing divorce-rate and decreasing birth-rate, increasing mobility and higher independency (self-reliance) - especially women - and stress, time-shortage, carreer-plans and job-pressure are reasons for the big need for online services like dating sites. On the other hand besides carreer. money, reputation, freedom and independency people have a need for love, feelings and community. Contradiction and inner conflict of modern western man.

The actors

even millions...

Are there constants in human relationships? I think man (and woman) always had and will have a need for respect, being loved, feelings and so on. So e-love (electronic love) is only another way, another media to partners. As You can see, even in an online-relationship there is still room for love, lust, feelings, good vibrations, butterflies in stomach as well as jealousy, lover's grief, sorrow, and so on.

Another aspect of "market": Who is online?

Statistics say

  • more higher educated
  • mostly average aged over 30, not very young and not very old
  • with "better" income
  • love-experienced; people who already had a relationship

By the way there are users who signed on with different parameters. Sounds like love-scam, but may be caused by changes of mood or looking for different relationships. No problem for love-affairs, not recommended for marriage-relationships.
