Church MichaelerkircheNight view From Herrengasse
This church is in opposite of Michaelertor. This late-romanic church from 13th century is one of the oldest churches of Vienna. The tower and choir is gothic style. The facade is in classicistic style by E.Koch, 1729. The projecting structure at entrance is by A.Beduzzi (1725), the sandstone-group of fallen angels is by Lorenzo Mattielli (1725). Much more older is the relief of Mount of Olives (1494). The altar was constructed in the year 1781 by designs of Jean Baptiste d'Avrange. The crucifixionaltar with a crucifixiongroup by Franz Kaessmann is constructed by Johann Zobel (1823). Also from Johann Zobel the triumpharc-altar with a painting by Tobias Pock from 17th century.
