1845 the Kaiser's gardener Heinrich Wilhelm Schott had the idea of a house for the research and care of palm trees. The iron- and glasbuilding was constructed 1880-1892 by plans of F.Segenschmid. It is 114m long and contains on 2500qm three different climate zones, with palm trees, tropical and even subtropical plants. Nearby there is the so-called Schmetterlingshaus (house of butterflies), which is in a sundial - house since 1990. In this small building real alive butterflies in many colors can be seen.
