Church PeterskircheOutsideview View with a shadow
Lukas on Hildebrandt (born 1668, died 1745, worked since 1696 in Vienna, since 1700 Kaiser's architect, constructed the upper Belvedere) constructed this baroque church in the inner city. Entrance by Andreas Altomonte. The entrance-lion is romanic, 13th century. Fresco inside by Michael Rottmayr (1741). The painting on the wall are made by Johann Georg Schmidt (1715), in choir (Chor) of Santino Bussi (1730) there are ornamental Stucci of Albert Camesina. The paintings on altars are by Franz K.Remp (1712), Anton Schoonjans (1714) and Martin Altomonte (1714). Pulpit with reliefs by Matthias Steinl (1716). A.Gallibiena designed the altar, which was constructed by S.Bussi. Remarkable tabernacle, the altarpainting is from Leopold Kupelwieser (1836). Treasure-vault with goldsmith's works from 18th and 19th century. In lower-church tombstones. At the outside-wall there is a relief "Kaiser Karl the great founding the Peterskirche" by Rudolf Weyr (1906).
